J.S. Arulraj assumes duties as the new Government Agent of Batticaloa District!

J.S. Arulraj has been appointed, with the approval of the Cabinet, as the new District Secretary and Government Agent of Batticaloa District. He officially assumed duties at the Batticaloa District Secretariat today (26).

Following the retirement from public service of Mrs. J.J. Muralitharan, who served as the Government Agent of Batticaloa District until yesterday (25), Mr. J.S. Arulraj, a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and former Secretary to the Governor of the Eastern Province, has been appointed as the new Government Agent of Batticaloa. The proposal submitted by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government was approved by the Cabinet on 15.09.2025.

A graduate of the University of Jaffna, he joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 2003.

He has served as Assistant Divisional Secretary in the Kinniya and Seruwila Divisional Secretariats, and has also worked in the North-Eastern Provincial Council and the Eastern Provincial Council.

He has held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Cooperative Development in Vavuniya and Mannar Districts, and Deputy Commissioner of the Eastern Provincial Department of Industries.

He served as the Divisional Secretary of Trincomalee Town and Gravets and later rendered special service as the Assistant Government Agent of Trincomalee District.

Until yesterday (25), he was serving as Secretary to the Governor of the Eastern Province. From today, he will serve as the District Secretary and Government Agent of Batticaloa District.
